Synopsis:

Welcome to Deadwood, “way out west”, full of backwaters cowpunchers and prospectors along with the occasional Sioux and of course, soldiers from the local fort.

In the local hostelry “The Golden Garter” Henry Miller, and proprietor, has promised his clients treat -  lovely “Francis Fryer”. Calamity Jane, our gun totin’ heroine arrives on the stage with presents galore and Francis Friar. Miller is horrified! He has accidentally booked a song and dance man rather than the lovely singing star he had in mind. Miller has no choice. Francis Fryer must do the act anyway. The audience are not at all impressed by Francis and scalps are about to be lost when calamity becomes involved and sort of promises to make amends -  she will bring Adelaide Adams to town! This is a little ambitious to say the least, as Adelaide is a big star in Chicago. but calamity is determined. Bill teases calamity and tells her to take a good look at the women in Chicago -  maybe she could take a few tips from them… In Chicago Adelaide Adams has had enough and can’t wait to leave for Europe.  Her star struck maid Katie Brown asks her if she could be considered for the stage. Adelaide dismisses her suggestion as inconceivable and leaves for Europe. Katie dreams on. Calamity mistakes Katie for Adelaide and Katie seizes a chance… Back in Deadwood, Katie makes her stage debut and is a great success. She moves into calamity’s cabin and starts to transform the place not to mention our heroine

Katie has other admirers too, Danny Gilmartin and Wild Bill Hitchcock amongst them, the calamity has other ideas to Danny.

At the forts Scully ball things start to happen…
