"A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES": A nostalgic musical night out
The first outing of the Spotlights Musical Theatre Group (previously the Sunningdale Savoy Chorus) is a nostalgic night out at the movies. The group, in their autumn concert, will sing a selection of songs from the biggest movie musicals of all time including "The Lion King", "Billy Elliott", "Singing In the Rain", "The BodyGuard" and many more. "Musicals are so important to people", says the group's Chairman, John Woodward-Roberts, "and many associate particular songs with particular times in their lives. We want our audience, loyal to us when we were the Sunningdale Savoy Chorus, to come along and sing along to the movie songs that they know and love only too well".
"A Night At The Movies" is the 1st concert of the Spotlights Musical Theatre Group under its new name. Previously called the Sunningdale Savoy Chorus for 20 years, the group aims to perform excellent musical theatre using predominantly local talent from the Ascot, Sunningdale and Sunninghill communities. "We are completely inclusive", says John, "and welcome members whatever their musicality and age to sing in our concerts, take part in our big summer musical, and help behind stage".
Spotlights will perform "A Night At The Movies" at the Cordes Hall in Sunninghill at 1930 on Friday 18 October and at 1430 and 1930 on Saturday 19 October. Tickets costing £10 (and £7 for the matinee) are available from its box office on 01344 297347. Or book online at www.spotlightsmtg.co.uk
