Spotlight On Supporting Our Local Community
Spotlights Musical Theatre Group once again took home the trophy for the most sponsorship raised for the Sunninghill Fancy Dress Wheelbarrow Race, held on Monday 1 May. The group was awarded the trophy at a special Rotary Club of Ascot meeting held at Mile Ride Golf Club on 14 June.
This year, Spotlights’ wheelbarrow, the Dedworth Stage, will make an appearance in the group’s forthcoming show – A Day At The Races – in July.
The Sunninghill/Ascot based group has been participating in the Wheelbarrow Race, organised by the Rotary Club of Ascot for several years and has raised more than £2,000 in the last two years alone.
In fact, Spotlights Musical Theatre Group has been raising money for local charities in the Ascot area for more than 30 years.
Over the years we have donated thousands of pounds – which has been raised through our raffles at performances, appearances at community events and Christmas carol singing – to charities such as Sebastian’s Action Trust, the Hope Trust, The Ascot Day Centre as well as being proud supporters of the Rotary Club of Ascot. The group also supports smaller groups such as the local Scout unit and Cordes Hall.
The charities we support are often nominated by our members because the cause is close to their hearts but we welcome expressions of interest from all local groups and charities who would benefit from some extra support. Please get in touch to find out more. We’d love to hear your story
